I'm trying to catch up on my reviews so this is my second for today. I've been looking a lot recently at The Shallow End website because a friend of mine writes for it. For those of you who don't know (it is quite new afterall) this site is an ABC initiative and is a link off the ABC site. It is an entertainment blog basically.
I can't help but really dislike the content but the actual site has some good points. In my opinion, the whole idea of the site is lame. It is made up of a whole lot of very small and very re-hashed entertainment stories. Each story is usually just a few paragraphs that links to a full story on a different site, for example the . What I don't like about it is the writers write their blogs as if they had some street cred in the entertainment industry. I just think it sounds funny the way they simply re-hash stories about pop stars.
Anyway, about the site...some of the links are strange, in terms of what words are used for the links. Apart from the bad links, it is really easy to use. They use a lot of bold words which make it easy to scan the page and there are lots of easy to see and easy to use links in side bars. Also, the pages are not too cluttered which helps the reading process. If only they could improve on the content.
